Job overview

The Howard of Effingham School has an exciting opportunity for a Cover Supervisor. The post holder supervises whole classes during the short term absence of teachers. The primary focus is on maintaining good order and keeping students on task, respond to questions and generally assist students to undertake set activities under the direction of the teacher.  Full on the job training and support will be provided for the successful applicant.   

A good general education is required, with numeracy and literacy skills equivalent to GCSE Grade C in English and Maths, or adult skills qualification in literacy and numeracy at level 2.

The successful candidate must be able to engage with young people in a positive way and possess good interpersonal and communication skills so as to relate effectively to and earn the confidence of staff, students and parents. The ability to manage safely the classroom activities; deal with classroom behaviour and be sensitive to students needs and concerns is also essential.
