Curriculum Area Lead – Space and Aerospace Industries with Engineering or Digital specialisms (ESF Meeting Smart Specialisation Business Needs through Higher Level Skills (SS HLS) project)

Truro and Penwith College is the only Cornish College member of the South West Institute of Technology and in September 2021 the College will open a new building with state of the art facilities in Engineering and Computing/Digital on the Truro Campus, which is also being replicated on college land at Bodmin to deliver similar provision for the North and East of the county from March 2022.

These are priority areas for local higher-level skills, with clear synergy to the Cornwall’s rapidly developing renewal economy and the space sector, with the first launch by Virgin Orbit planned for Spring 2022.

This post, which is initially funded on a fixed-term basis until July 2023, will be part of a project team that is being formed to lead on the development of both the new Truro and Bodmin centres. Successful applicants will be expected to engage with employers to design and assist in the delivery of a range of higher education, higher level apprenticeships and industry-relevant continuing professional Development programmes.

Successful candidates are expected to have a higher-level degree in engineering or a computing/digital related field and ideally, research and teaching experience within a higher education institution. This is an exceptional opportunity for the right candidates to shape provision and help to develop the Cornish economy and career opportunities for its workforce.
