Curriculum Director of Science

Salary: School's own C Scale (C1-8) £43, 569 to £54,869

The Federation and Academy

Haberdashers’ Aske’s Crayford Academy is a very successful 3-18 school, proud to belong to the Haberdashers’ Aske’s Federation. We offer an exciting and innovative model for education within the community that we serve, with broad appeal to parents and pupils alike.

Offering education across all key stages which has consistently been judged ‘Good’ by Ofsted, most recently in December 2014.

Facilities at the school are first class; from the building itself to the resources which support the delivery of a broad curriculum including an extremely popular and well maintained Learning Resource Centre. Our playing fields, gymnasium, drama theatre and ICT facilities all contribute to ensuring we deliver an education for character, a feature of all Haberdashers’ schools that is part of our DNA.

We take a comprehensive mix of children and expect nothing less than the highest personal goals for each pupil.  Where pupils are disadvantaged, we expect them to make rapid progress to catch up with their peers. Our focus is to ensure each child we teach can read, write and do mathematics to a good standard in order to be successful in their education and life.

Haberdashers’ Aske’s Crayford Academy is 30 minutes from London Bridge by train and the school’s proximity to the capital is a strong factor in enabling teachers to enhance the cultural experience for our pupils through enrichment activities.

The Role

We wish to appoint an exceptional science practitioner who will use their experience, extensive subject knowledge and vision to deliver ambitious and high quality learning and teaching opportunities.

This is a truly exciting opportunity for an existing or aspiring head of science to take on a new role taking the delivery of science one step further in the Academy and, as part of a Curriculum Directors’ leadership team, across the Federation.  In this role, you will lead the Science department to make a real impact, developing innovative learning opportunities for students to enable them to achieve outstanding outcomes.

The value and status we give to the role of Curriculum Director is reflected in:

- an enhanced curriculum directors’ pay scale;

- a timetable commitment of 50%;

- an opportunity to contribute to curriculum development across the

Federation as part of the Curriculum Directors’ Group;

- an enhanced professional development programme.

Our goal is that through this role and the associated development opportunities, a successful Curriculum Director will ultimately be equipped to move directly into a Vice Principal position.

If you feel that this position is of interest and you have the right experience, skills and are ready for fresh challenges, with the ambition to make a real impact then we’d like to hear from you.
