Job overview

St Michael's Catholic Academy and the Directors of Carmel Education Trust wish to appoint a Curriculum Lead for Science. 

We are looking for an enthusiastic teacher to lead the Science department, with the commitment to maximising achievement through excellence in teaching and learning. 

In addition, the individual will have the vision to drive forward change in a demanding climate. 

The successful candidate will be: 

 An inspiring leader and team player of integrity, determination and empathy to lead an effective and dedicated teaching team within a framework of high expectations; 

 A passionate advocate for Science throughout the Academy; 

 Able to demonstrate a track record of improving student outcomes in Science either as an experienced curriculum leader or as a successful second in department; 

 A practitioner with a clear vision for student progress and a strong commitment to intervention in order to consolidate improvement; 

 Any science teaching discipline is acceptable. 

The successful candidate will benefit from:

About St Michael's Catholic Academy

St Michael’s Catholic Academy was established as a state secondary in 1964 in Billingham, County Durham. It became part of Carmel Education Trust in 2013, along with a number of other local Catholic schools. 

Currently, the co-educational secondary caters for more than 800 pupils aged 11-16. St Michael’s intends to move to a larger, more modern site in the near future.
