Maiden Erlegh Trust is developing our subject leadership and requires an expert curriculum leader to champion their subject, Trust wide.
Maiden Erlegh Trust wishes to appoint a Curriculum leader: English and reading. This is a new and exciting opportunity for an experienced Teacher of English to provide strategic leadership of the curriculum intent and implementation for English in the agreed Maiden Erlegh Trust secondary schools. Initially this role will be based at Maiden Erlegh School in Reading. It is envisaged that the scope of the role will eventually extend beyond one school as the Trust grows and develops
The successful candidate will lead and co-ordinate reading across the curriculum in the agreed secondary schools, including overseeing curriculum programmes (e.g. phonic programmes), interventions and support for students who are not yet fluent readers.
This is a pivotal role in providing advice and support to colleagues, working with them to ensure that their practice is of the highest standard and is consistent across the Trust.
You will be a strong leader with a track record of success in raising standards and/or quality of teaching. You will be experienced in designing and delivering the curriculum to embed best practice, and you will have a commitment to your own professional reading and development. You will also be an excellent classroom practitioner in your own right.
You will need to be an excellent communicator and be able to sustain effective working arrangements with a wide range of senior stakeholders is a prerequisite.

In January 2014, a bid from Maiden Erlegh Trust to the Department for Education to open a new school in the East Reading area was successful. The central proposition of the bid was to open a new school that shared the ethos, culture and values of the well-established Maiden Erlegh School in Earley, Reading, Berkshire.
We proudly opened Maiden Erlegh School in Reading to its first Year 7 students in September 2015.
