The successful candidate will have the vision, creativity and experience to drive the continued development of this highly successful Humanities Faculty which includes Geography, History, Religious Studies, Sociology and Government & Politics. A subject specialism of Geography would be an advantage.

We are able to offer extensive support in career development and progression as well as the opportunity to work with and visit our international partners.

The Academy specialises in Humanities and Global Citizenship which is closely allied to our vision of Christian Education which allows for the development of the whole person. As a Teacher at the Academy you will have a significant role in maintaining and developing the Christian ethos of the Academy.

St Mary Magdalene Academy is a Church of England all-through Academy which opened in September 2007 in purpose-built accommodation.

The Academy specialism is Humanities and Global Citizenship and the creation of well-rounded young people, able to take their place in the local, national and international community is at the heart of all we do. The focus on happy, successful children influences the way that we approach education.

Vision and values

St Mary Magdalene Academy aims to ensure every individual is valued and cared for, and to help children become responsible citizens of the future. The school strives to provide a varied and stimulating curriculum that caters to every student. The motto is, "Show by a good life that your works are done by gentleness born of wisdom" (James 3:13).

The school specialises in the humanities and global citizenship, but also concentrates on RE, geography, maths and science. Enrichment activities such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award, sports, music, drama, chess, debating and Latin are all available to foster greater talents in each child.
