Lathom High School is a rapidly improving school which is recognised for its work around students' personal development, well-being, safety and security.  We continually drive forward standards and are passionate about maximising the potential in all.  Our caring and nurturing approach to education within and beyond the classroom contributes to what makes our school a special place both to work and to learn.

We place great value on the fulfilment and well-being of our colleagues; our successes to date are in no small part down to their hard work, commitment and determination, and our growing student roll enables us to provide opportunities for both personal and career development.  The successful candidate will be funded, should they wish, to complete The National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQSL), which provides recognition of leadership development and impact in role.

To build on our considerable successes in English in recent years, we are seeking to appoint a talented individual with a flair for leadership and innovation, as well as a clear commitment to driving progress and raising attainment even further in this vital core subject. The successful candidate will demonstrate exemplary subject knowledge and curriculum awareness, a robust understanding of data and its application to bridge gaps in performance as well as a passion for English and a desire to make it accessible to all students. It is essential that you are an outstanding classroom practitioner and an enthusiastic educationalist capable of providing inspirational leadership to our strong and developing team.

Values and vision

Lathom High School wishes to be an inspiring place to learn. It has extremely high standards for all its students and expects them to make outstanding progress during their time at the school. Students are monitored and supported in their academic and social progress, reporting home on a regular basis. There are also well established systems at the school for rewarding students who do well. The school’s broad and balanced curriculum is designed not only to fulfil the requirements of the national curriculum, but also to allow students to pursue their own personal interests and to develop their individual talents.

Ofsted

“The new headteacher has an accurate view of how well the school is doing, and knows what needs to be done to bring about improvements. Pupils feel safe in school and say that they are well looked after and supported by their teachers. Leaders have successfully managed the sudden increase in the number of pupils on roll caused by the closure of a local school. Those pupils have been enabled to settle into the school well, and their progress is beginning to accelerate.”
