New College are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity, for an inspirational manager to join a management group within the College. The managerial role will be supported by a peer group of cross college managers, Curriculum Managers within the Health, Sports, Beauty, Creative Studies (HSBC) Faculty, administrators and a Faculty Manager.

Together, the group(s) work collaboratively to achieve College key performance indicators and targets pivotal to the success of learners and staff members.

You will be required to ensure that the curriculum is managed, developed and
reviewed in accordance with College policies and procedures in order that the highest quality of provision and performance is maintained to meet learner and employer needs.


The HSBC Faculty comprises of the following teams:

• Sports
• Public Services
• Health & Social Care
• Early Years
• Art
• Creative Media
• Photography
• Performing Arts
• Hair & Beauty

This role will include the management of:

The performance of the whole faculty is excellent with most programmes above national average and many teams above Achievement Rate targets for 2017/18. This is an excellent opportunity for a new or existing manager to lead and motivate a large group of learners and staff members. We are looking for a robust, enthusiastic and motivated individual to maintain the performance and make the necessary improvements where required. We would like to hear from individuals that feel they have the skills to support staff members, development curriculum, improve the quality of education and training and can provide innovation to the curriculum area.

Main Duties:

1. To manage the day-to-day development of the curriculum portfolio, ensuring it is consistent with the college’s strategic objectives, government priorities and local/regional needs. To constantly review the range of opportunities, making recommendations to ensure our programmes are aligned with learners’ needs, wider employability opportunities and business requirements.

2. To actively pursue continuous quality improvement consistent with the College’s Quality Strategy and Strategic Plan.

3. To teach with an allowance of delivery hours.

4. To lead, motivate, develop and manage a curriculum team taking responsibility for performance management, personal development and target setting for individuals. Utilise staff resources to maximise efficiency and effectiveness.

You will be required to manage a curriculum areas consisting of Sports, Public Services, Early Years, Health and Social Care and Hair and Beauty. You will directly line manage all staff within the curriculum team which consists of administrators, support and teaching staff members and the Hair and Beauty Distinction Salon Manager.

Included in your duties will be up to 192 teaching hours per annum.

It is essential that you hold a degree or alternative Level 5 subject specialist qualification together with a full Level 5 teaching qualification.

It is desirable that you hold an appropriate Management Qualification at a Minimum of Level 4

You will have relevant and varied experience gained in a senior lecturing position e.g. managing a programme area and have the skills and knowledge to teach and develop Levels 1-4+.

It is essential that you have an English, Maths and ICT qualification at Level 2 or above. If you do not hold a Level 2 Qualification in ICT successful candidates will be required to undertake a relevant Microsoft qualification within first 12 months of employment. If the qualification held is more than 10 years old, we will require you to undertake a relevant refresher qualification.
