ROLE SUMMARY:

 

Kings College School Alicante is looking for a Dance and Drama teacher who will be responsible for teaching and delivering high quality lessons that foster creativity, self expression and collaboration amongst our students. The successful candidate will teach across the lower and middle school (EYFS to Year 8) and will be part of the whole college Expressive Arts team. They will play an integral part in ensuring students enjoy and participate in engaging and inspiring lessons that enhance their academic and personal growth. Additionally, it might be necessary for the person in post to deliver other parts of the British curriculum across the lower and middle school as part of their timetable.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


In addition to the responsibilities of a class teacher, set out in the UK Teachers’ Standards, the successful candidate will:

  • Teach engaging and age appropriate lessons to students from EYFS to Year 8, ensuring a well rounded, progressive and inclusive curriculum is delivered for Dance and Drama
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop, improve and refine the Dance and Drama curriculum where appropriate
  • Provide lunchtime clubs for students from Years 1-8 (as part of teaching allocation) encouraging participation in a variety of dance, drama and movement based activities
  • With colleagues, support student performances (including school productions, dance showcases and drama events) to provide pupils with opportunities to showcase their talents and creativity
  • Work with Heads of Subject to develop cross curricular approaches and links


THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:


Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Dance, Drama, Performing Arts, or a related field
  • Qualified Teacher Status (or equivalent)
  • Experience teaching Dance and Drama to primary-aged children
  • Experience supporting school productions and performances
  • Ability to engage diverse learning styles and abilities

 

Desirable:

  • Master’s degree in Education
  • Royal Academy of Dance Registered Teacher Status
  • Experience with Key Stage 3 students
  • Background in directing school productions
  • Experience in the arts beyond a school setting

 

Skills & Competencies:

  • Fluent English speaker with strong communication skills
  • Effective classroom management and ability to create a positive learning environment
  • Creativity and flexibility in lesson planning
  • Passion for performing arts and inspiring students
  • Collaborative team player fostering creativity and inclusion
