Job overview

Panyathip International School  – The British International School in Laos, wants to continue to deliver the RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) programme in the capital city Vientiane.

The programme began in 2018 but we need a replacement teacher as soon as possible since our students are missing their dance !  Unfortunately our founding Dance Teacher had to leave and we are looking for a suitable teacher to take hold of this exciting opportunity.

"I started ballet about six years ago and since then I kept on dancing, studying and perfecting my ballet technique... but they don't have the Royal Academy curriculum in Laos except last year at Panyathip"  wrote one of our Primary dancers last week.

Can you help bring back dance to our curriculum ?

For January 2020 (or earlier if possible)  we wish to appoint an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Dance/Performing Arts Teacher to oversee the School’s dance programme and to support and develop  its performing arts provision through the delivery of high quality dance classes, performances and extra curricula activities.

You will be responsible for developing the  dance curriculum which you will teach to students at Early Years, Primary and Secondary levels of study, as well as contribute more broadly to the school’s ethos and mission of developing a life-long love of learning and a sense of responsible citizenship. You will also develop a programme of Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus classes as an after-school /Saturday morning dance club, with a view of entering students for RAD examinations. In addition to these activities, there is potential to offer additional private dance tuition and holiday programmes to enhance your compensation package.

You should be a committed and enthusiastic RAD qualified dance teacher (Registered Teacher Status) with a strong knowledge and understanding of pedagogical practices which inform the learning and teaching of dance.

You will need comprehensive knowledge and/or experience of developing dance curricula which is educationally sound and culturally inclusive. You will have a strong knowledge, understanding and experience of teaching RAD syllabi across a range of age groups and abilities, with an interest in developing the work of the RAD in Laos.

Panyathip offers excellent opportunities for Newly Qualified (NQT) and Experienced Teachers alike, since there are many opportunities for those who wish to develop their skills, take the initiative in bringing new ideas and play a part in the development of a relatively new, growing and  highly supportive school.

The School has recently been elected to both COBIS (Council of British International Schools) and FOBISIA (Federation of British International Schools in Asia) Membership.

Throughout our campuses students and staff are seen as individuals and classes are relatively small allowing the team to have a strong collegial approach. By and large our students are keen to learn and teachers are able to teach rather than have to maintain discipline.

Living and Working in Laos  - the downloads available on this site  explain what living and working in Laos is like, and our application procedures can be downloaded too.

Panyathip - The British International School in Laos is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff, volunteers and other third parties to share this commitment. Safer recruitment practices and pre-employment background checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed. All teachers appointed to Panyathip - The British International School in Laos, are required to provide criminal records checks. Further details will be provided during interview.

Panyathip International School - The British International School in Laos, is a well-established International School having been founded in the Academic Year 2001-2002. From one Campus with a small number of students the school has grown to  5 Campuses in Laos.

The School was initially registered as a Private Education Institute by the Ministry of Education and Sports as a Bilingual School as it offered both an English as well as Lao programme, but has now gained the recognition as The British International School in Laos. Over the 17 years, we have grown from a small primary school with an enrolment of 60+ students to the current school enrolment of 1,000+ students, from the Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary, at the four campuses in Vientiane as well as one campus in Savannakhet.
