About the Role

This role provides information technology expertise in the area of solution design, implementation, IT governance, and analysis. The Data Discovery and Engineering Officer is responsible for the ongoing improvement of an IT platform that will be used for enterprise data-informed decision-making. This includes data warehouse, data discovery tools, analytics and machine learning tools, data visualisation tools, integration, and data movement capability from source systems to the platform and enterprise-wide self-reporting capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise in the development and support of the Catholic Education (CE) data discovery and analytics platform (DDAP) including data warehouse functions, integration tools, data discovery tools, analytics and machine learning tools, and data visualisation tools.
  • Manage the technical development and maintenance of CE Data Discovery and Analysis Platform (DDAP), working closely with the key data users across the organisation.
  • Develop and update the required data models to be stored in the DDAP.
  • Develop and maintain data integrations from source systems to the DDAP using CE’s Integration technologies. Currently, this is using the Dell Boomi platform and Azure Data Factory.
  • Implement appropriate systems and tools for school staff and business units across CE to provide for self-service reporting of key data with appropriate access controls.
  • Liaise with our ICT network team and provider CEnet in facilitating appropriate server platforms to support DDAP.
  • Ensure stability and quality of the platform by utilising appropriate change control and release management procedures and required user and technical documentation. Azure DevOps is the preferred platform for this within CE.

Essential Criteria

  • Must have completed a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent formal qualification and/or working experience in similar role.
  • Comprehensive experience in business to IT solution analysis and design skills.
  • Comprehensive experience in database design, data conversion, data migration, and data integrity solutions.
  • Experience in the development and/or implementation of application systems, data analysis, and data warehousing.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in data analytics tooling.
  • Training and experience in integration technologies.
  • Advanced level of skills with relevant technologies and domains.
