Job overview

We are currently seeking a Music Teacher for Early Years at Dulwich College Beijing.

Early Years prides itself on its child-centered, holistic approach for all children. We are able to do this successfully, by offering small class sizes of 22 children or less, a high teacher- pupil ratio and generous resources, for a range of abilities. Assistant Teachers are of a very high standard and are all bilingual. Children here have a thirst for learning and behaviour is exemplary. Parents at our school are supportive and value teachers highly. In 2018, Early Years learning spaces were rebuilt and enhanced. There is a beautiful, natural look to all learning spaces. The classrooms are designed to operate either as a stand alone class or as a unit, according to the needs of the children during the day. Outside, we also have two new, exciting learning spaces. The Early Years environment reflects both the quality of the teaching and the excellent resources available. All classes have interactive whiteboards, I-pads and laptops with MacBooks for teachers. We enhance our curriculum through in-depth planning, specialist teaching in P.E., Mandarin, Art and Music, and through a range of resources, such as Numicon for Maths. Our assessment tools include Seesaw, now used throughout the school. Visitors to Early Years will see children highly engaged and learning actively through collaboration, problem solving and creative thinking.

The Music Teacher in Early Years will need to teach, lead and develop a creative music curriculum based on the EYFS and National Curriculum for KS1 that develops children’s music skills in an experiential way. In liaison with the Head of Music and class teachers, you will support a programme of performance opportunities to enhance and encourage the music skills of all pupils and offer a variety of extra-curricular music clubs and ensembles.
