Job overview

Deaf Instructor Needed in Brent

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

The Post

This is an exciting opportunity to join a hearing impairment service committed to meeting the range of communication needs of deaf children and young people. We are looking for a person who can teach and model British Sign Language to children who are hearing impaired, their families and others who support them.

The post holder will have a good understanding of the impact of deafness and a willingness to work with children and young people ranging in age from birth to 24 years.

A British Sign Language qualification at NVQ Level 3 or above is required for the above post.

For an informal discussion about this post please contact Milly Mastroianni, Hearing Impairment Team Leader, on 0208 937 5107 or email milly.mastroianni@brent.gov.uk
