It is expected that the successful candidate will lead and teach Spanish (Years 7-11) and French (Year 10-11 at present) and secure good progress for all learners in these key subjects.

We are seeking a colleague who will:

  • Successfully strategically lead and line manage the MFL department to move it to outstanding.
  • Be enthusiastic, passionate, creative, flexible and innovative with the drive and determination to successfully contribute to whole school improvement.
  • Ensure the highest standards of teaching and learning, learner attainment, progress and behaviour across the department.
  • Support at all times the positive ethos, values and policies of the school
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people you are responsible for or come into contact with
  • Assist with the development of policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
  • Be committed to significantly contributing to the extracurricular and enrichment life of the school through for example educational visits

The school is committed to the safeguarding and wellbeing of learners and all staff must share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to undergo appropriate screening including an Enhanced DBS check.

Unsworth Academy’s vision is to inspire learners to achieve their full potential and succeed in all that they do, with the motto: “Inspire, Challenge, Excel.” The secondary school has three core values: respect, pride and ambition, and hopes that by following these, everyone at the school will go on to have a successful and fulfilling life. The school believes in working together as a community to ensure that its goals are met.
