Highland Council is recruiting promoted teachers in both the primary and secondary sectors.

In Highland Council we are proud of our reputation for high educational standards. We strive to ensure that our young people maximise their potential. We believe that high quality learning and teaching underpins the success of our learners. All staff are well supported and have good access to opportunities for professional development.

Across the extensive Highland Council area our school leaders work to provide an integrated service for children and families, bringing together colleagues across health, education and social care in a single Care and Learning Service. We have an embedded practice model across all professional disciplines, achieving full implementation of 'Getting it right for every child'.

Highland Council has begun an ambitious Management of Schools programme which aims to strengthen the support for head teachers as leaders of learning and teaching and to sustain schools in local areas.

Highland Council is committed to the enhancement and delivery of learning and teaching through a digital learning project, which will provide pupils with 1 to 1 devices from P6 to S6.

The Highlands is an area of outstanding natural beauty with a rich heritage and Gaelic culture along with excellent schools and safe communities making it a great place to work and live.

About Alness Academy

Alness Academy – Our School at the heart of our community

Our amazing new Alness Academy building is due to open in October 2020.

The building will comprise a two storey main teaching block, with kitchen, dining and assembly spaces; and a sports/community area housing a 6 lane 25m swimming pool, 4 court games hall and gymnasium with associated changing rooms, storage rooms and pool plant room.

Two new 3G artificial pitches and informal playing fields, a learning garden and a greenhouse are included, alongside the retained rugby pitch. The school offers full wifi capability throughout the building and the surrounding school grounds, allowing for a real variety of learning areas.

The new school is being built for a roll of 600 pupils, reflecting forecast growth within the area.
