Job overview

Glenmoor & Winton Academies are two 11-16 secondary schools based in Bournemouth, in the picturesque county of Dorset.

The Academies are high-performing, over-subscribed and fully inclusive and form part of the highly successful multi-academy trust, United Learning. Disruption-free teaching is the promise at Glenmoor & Winton with the notion of continuous improvement underpinning all we do.

Staff, students, parents and the community are proud to be involved and associated with Glenmoor & Winton and we welcome any visitors at any time. We are GW Proud and look forward to meeting you soon.

Due to expanding student numbers, an exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Deputy Examination Officer & Lead Invigilator.

This would suit a candidate looking to train and develop their skill and knowledge of running a highly successful examination office. Glenmoor and Winton Academies are looking to appoint a professional, highly motivated, confident individual for this role.

The role

The Deputy Examination Officer will be responsible for the organisation and leadership of the invigilation team in the first instance.

The role will provide opportunity for the successful candidate to train in the organisation and administration of the examinations office, to have the opportunity to work with the EAA Officer and learn EAA requirements and become proficient in the application of JCQ regulations.

About You

The successful candidate must therefore have:

  • good administrative skills,
  • be confident in the exam hall context and,
  • be highly efficient and organised

You will need to be confident, articulate and able to deal sensitively with a variety of situations with students, teachers and examination invigilators.

Previous invigilation experience will be an expectation.

Glenmoor and Winton Academies are busy places of learning and work so you will need the ability to be clear and assertive whilst remaining calm, composed, tactful and flexible.

The Academies are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, therefore all applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers and an Enhanced Disclosure via the DBS.

To comply with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006, all prospective employees will be required to supply evidence of eligibility to work in the UK.

Glenmoor and Winton Academies are part of United Learning, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resources, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.
