Founded in 1912, Heatherton provides an excellent all-round education for girls aged 4 – 11 with a co-educational Nursery for two year olds. The school is set in an attractive green and leafy location on the outskirts of Amersham, within 30 miles of London.

As part of the Berkhamsted family of schools, Heatherton has benefited from investment on-site along with sharing the Group’s facilities such as a high ropes course, a 500 seat theatre, a 25m swimming pool and more, plus joining Berkhamsted Prep for ski trips and concerts.

Very high-quality facilities combined with an experienced staff of specialist teachers encourage each child’s individual academic and emotional development. High standards are achieved across a broad curriculum with small classes (max 22), a caring ethos and a close relationship with parents.

Excellent results are produced at all stages of school performance tests: and at 11 pupils progress to both local independent girls’ senior schools, often with scholarships, and Buckinghamshire grammar schools. Heatherton’s average Transfer Test (11+) pass rate over the past 10 years has been approximately double that of the county average – at over 60%.

Musical, artistic, and sporting talents flourish at Heatherton. A thriving orchestra, individual instrument lessons and many drama, ballet and music productions are an important part of life in a school year as well as swimming, cross country, netball, lacrosse, and a range of sporting activities. An extensive range of educational visits and activities in the UK and Europe are organised each year.
