The Headmaster is seeking to appoint an outstanding and inspirational Deputy Head to make a significant contribution to the ongoing success and development of Bradford Grammar School, the Sunday Times Northern Independent School of the Year 2018.

Pupils are motivated, happy and altruistic.  They are encouraged to strive for excellence, support each other through life’s adventure and give expression to their developing abilities.  With iconic buildings, first-class modern facilities and a committed and professional staff, the new Deputy Head will help to lead a school that has a strong operational model, robust finances and is responsive to thoughtful and well-planned change.  The successful candidate will play an important role promoting independent education in the region, support the delivery of the School’s strategic aims, lead the daily operation of the teaching side of the school and provide strong leadership and guidance to staff and pupils alike.  We are delighted to share that the previous two incumbents have gone onto Headships such is the breadth of experience and development opportunity available at Bradford Grammar School.

Bradford Grammar School is a mixed, non-denominational, all-through independent school situated in Bradford, West Yorkshire. The school caters for children from junior school through to sixth form, aged between 6-19. Admission is by exam. There are approximately 1,120 students at the school.   

Bradford Grammar School was founded in 1662 by Royal Charter and has been based on its current site since 1949. It shares a site with its junior school, Clock House. Facilities include specialist sports grounds, a swimming pool and gym.

Bradford Grammar School had the motto ‘Hoc Age’, translating to ‘get on and do it’. The school prides itself on being straightforward and honest in its approach to education and wishes to create opportunities for all students during their education. Community is at the heart of Bradford Grammar School, both across West Yorkshire and internationally. It demonstrates this through volunteering, teaching courses and fundraising. The school embraces academic, sporting and creative achievements and wises to embrace and nurture students. It believes that happiness is the key to success. The school’s five core values are: excellence, compassion, determination, opportunity and service. Bradford Grammar School has a wide range of extra-curricular activities for students to discover new hobbies and interests and learn new skills. These include a debating society which competes at national level and a cadet force. Pupils at the school are high achievers and in 2016, 71% of GCSE results were awarded A* or A.
