ESF is searching for an experienced and dynamic senior leader to join our community at Discovery College of over 1,400 students and 194 staff.

Job Summary

This position is to support the Principal as the Deputy Head of College, ensuring the highest quality of professional practice and student outcomes through continuous and strategic improvement.

Main Accountabilities

Quality Assurance and Strategic Performance

  • Lead the College’s approach to Quality Assurance (QA), ensuring that it provides a robust lens to understand the success of the College’s intended educational outcomes and the fulfilment of the College Vision
  • Lead the College’s annual Strategic Planning process, ensuring stakeholder input from staff, students, and parents
  • Lead the IB Evaluation and Accreditation process and ensure that QA authentically integrates appropriate elements of the IB Evaluation cycle
  • Coordinate the collection, analysis and dissemination of data and QA findings to support school improvement, professional learning, and strategic decision-making
  • Working with the IB Programme Coordinators, lead the Curriculum Articulation and Review process in order to ensure coherent learning experiences across Years 1-13 that are informed by planning, practice, outcomes and the student experience
  • Work with the Student Council to ensure Student Voice plays a central role in how the College evaluates its professional practice and educational outcomes

Other Leadership Responsibilities

  • Working with the Principal, support the overall leadership of the College in key areas such as Strategic Direction, Curriculum, Teaching and Learning, Student Support, Wellbeing, Progression and Transition, and Administration
  • Lead the College’s Enrolment and Communications strategies, ensuring alignment between the College’s strategic development and the needs of the community
  • Coordinate the College’s House System, fostering a sense of house identity and spirit through events, competitive activities and celebrations, and coordinating the work of the five House Directors
  • Implement systems for the effective running of specified areas of the College, including via monitoring and managing budgets to maximise value for money and to ensure accountability
  • Lead the College’s Learning Management Systems development in conjunction with the Digital Literacies Coordinator and other relevant colleagues
  • Play an active role in leading across the foundation, including through policy development, communication and implementation, and the pursuit of ESF’s vision and educational strategy. Ensure alignment between school and foundation-wide development and practices
  • Undertake a variety of strategic and operational responsibilities in and across both Primary and Secondary as determined according to need, including:
  1. Line management of other staff, including in cross-College areas such as Digital Literacies, ICT and Library
  2. Participation in recruitment
  3. Student support, including through attachment to specific yeargroup(s)
  4. Work on special projects, developments and innovation
  5. Policy development and review
  6. Deputising for the Principal in a variety of contexts, events and activities as required

Other Duties

  • Performing other duties and accountabilities as apparent or as delegated by the Principal or her/his representative, including mutually agreed-upon objectives

Minimum Typical Education

  • Teaching Qualification
  • Bachelor degree (postgraduate qualifications preferred)

Minimum Typical Experience

  • Senior leadership experience in a similarly sized school (Primary, Secondary or All Through)
  • Experiences in a range of different schools and/or a school with a well developed international outlook

Notes

  • Two year finite contract
  • All teachers are expected to:

1.  Contribute to the school extra-curricular programme throughout the year

2. Participate in key school and PTA events on identified evenings and weekends

3. Contribute to the Education Outside the Classroom Programme, including by leading residential excursions in urban or rural locations, in Hong Kong or overseas, as required
