Your opportunity

We are looking for a hard-working, talented and committed Deputy Head of Science to join our ambitious and supportive Science department. You will take on the role of Deputy Head of Science, working closing with the Head of Department to raise standards of student attainment and ensure outstanding progress. You will also assist the Head of Department with the organisation and management of the department.

You will play a key role in teaching Science at KS3 and KS4. The specific roles will be tailored to the strengths of the successful candidate. 

As an outstanding teacher you will be ambitious for our students and community and will support our inclusive ethos. You will be keen to continuously develop your practice and have a collaborative approach across the department.

  • Is passionate about and committed to enabling all students to fulfil their potential regardless of their starting point.
  • Has a clear understanding of how students learn.
  • Will lead by example and support students to achieve the best of their ability.
  • Has qualified teacher status.

A teaching assistant is required to communicate with pupils to support their learning and therefore the person appointed to this post should have fluent spoken English.

Here at Springwest Academy, part of Tudor Park Education Trust, we’re always seeking to better our best. Our pastoral structures and systems are excellent and each year group has an attached Pastoral Mentor and Achievement Coordinator. In addition the academy is recognised as having some of the highest quality provision for supporting vulnerable students. We look for every opportunity to celebrate our successes and involve our staff in all aspects of improvement.

We benefit from fantastic sporting facilities and excellent ICT, that allows us to continually develop a more imaginative and modern curriculum. All members of our teaching staff are issued with a laptop and there are interactive boards and projectors in every teaching room. The entire site is covered for wireless access allowing all in our community to learn wherever they may be. We have a very experienced ICT managed service which offers us excellent support.

We offer a cycle to work scheme and free annual flu jabs.  All our staff are entered into pension schemes (Teachers’ Pensions or the LGPS).  We take staff wellbeing seriously and have an Employee Assistance Programme which offers free counselling and advice.

We also benefit from having a day nursery and a preschool located on our school site, both of which are open 7.30 am to 5.30 pm Monday to Friday.  They are called Little Georges Nursery (www.littlegeorges.co.uk ) and Georges Preschool (www.georgespreschool.co.uk ).  They can offer discounts and flexibility for staff working in our school, depending on the hours needed.

Springwest is located on a large green site less than 30 minutes from Waterloo and only 7 minutes’ walk from Feltham station. With easy access to the M3 and M4 we are also well located for staff looking to live outside of central London.
