Deputy Head of School & SENCo

Aspire Alternative ProvisionHigh Wycombe

About us:

Aspire Alternative Provision is a Multi-Academy Trust spread over a number of sites in High Wycombe, Chesham and Aylesbury. Aspire provides education and support for secondary age students who are unable to attend mainstream school. Aspire students attend full-time or part-time and are referred to us by schools and the Local Authority.

Our focus is on supporting these young people to experience success in education and facilitating a return back into appropriate full-time education, or finding appropriate alternative long term provision. We want to develop a model of excellence of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Aspire schools.

About the role

We are looking for a Deputy Head of School and SENDCo to join our senior leadership team at The Wycombe Grange. We are looking for someone who will work with our Head of School and Executive Head Teacher to help us develop the way we support students' individual needs, and build our intervention menu that ensures all children make progress in their SEMH as well as their academic work in their time with us.

Our new Deputy Head of school will also take the lead on developing Teaching and Learning, ensuring that we are meeting students' needs through quality first teaching as well as through interventions and support.

About you:

We are looking for an experienced leader of SEND who can help us transform outcomes for all our children.

We want to find people who share our values and ethos. We want to hire people who believe that young people who are unable to access education for all reasons need a nurturing and loving approach, to feel valued and cared for, and to have teachers who believe in them.

We know this work isn't always easy. We want to hire people who can be calm in the face of challenging and potentially upsetting circumstances, and who will always see the best in a young person, and find something to love in them, no matter what.

We have high expectations of our young people, in terms of their behaviour, social development, and academic achievement. We know that young people who have been unable to access their full time educational provision often have complex backgrounds, and/or a number of unmet special educational needs. When they receive the right support, they are capable of great things.
