Cairo English School, CES, is a highly reputable and respected international school within the Middle East region; offering a British curriculum, students graduate from the school completing with the IB Diploma or A Level programme. The secondary school has approximately 700 students on roll in an all-inclusive site with outstanding teaching and co-curricular facilities.

CES is looking to recruit for a January or July 2021 start, an experienced and dynamic professional for the position of Deputy Head of Secondary School. The role is with a curriculum focus where the successful candidate would be expected to have experience in timetabling and student options processes, as well as knowledge of IB, A Level, IGCSE and English Key Stage 3 curriculums. The Deputy Head is responsible for overseeing a team of Heads of Department and their curriculum mapping, in addition to ensuring all stakeholders are informed about curriculum developments. Interpersonal skills are of importance as the role requires working closely with other members of Senior Leadership, Department Heads, teachers, students and parents. Experience in creating examination and invigilation timetables is also beneficial, as is a working understanding of modern Management Information Systems.

The Deputy Head will form part of the Senior Leadership Team and be instrumental with the continual development of policies, particularly related to teaching and learning, and their successful implementation. Previous experience working in an international school setting would be beneficial.

Curriculum:

CES teaches the National Curriculum of England and Wales, applying the same educational standards as are offered in England, with modifications attuned to our Egyptian environment. Subjects offered at CES include; English, Mathematics, Science, Art & Design, Music, Geography, History, ICT, PE, Modern Foreign Languages, Design Technology and Personal Social Health Education. English is the language of instruction at CES. Ministry of Education Arabic, Religion and Social Studies are offered from Year 1 and French from Year 3.

CES initially opened from Foundation Stage 1 to Year 9. Year 10 opened in September 2007 and the school offers IGCSE at Year 9 and 10, , A Levels and IB Diploma Programme. is offered in Years 11 and 12 in preparation for university entrance within Egypt, United Kingdom and to other countries.

The curriculum is further enriched by the addition of a Learning Support programme, English as a Second Language and a comprehensive after school extra-curricular programme and a sports teams.

Cairo English School has the physical classroom space to accommodate up to 1800 students, with the building designed to house the students on three levels – Early Years on the ground floor. Primary School on the middle floor and Secondary School on the top floor.
