If you are a strategic thinker with a passion for high quality education and pastoral care and you see yourself working with the Headmaster to drive continuous improvement within a successful and historic prep school, this may be the opportunity you have been searching for. Our current deputy head retires at the end of the Summer term 2021 and this newly designed role will provide an opportunity for a dynamic and motivational leader who cares about delivering to a high standard within a caring environment. You will share our vision - to be a school which embraces a love of learning for every child through a combination of academic rigour and outdoor adventure.
As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the successful individual will have exceptional organisational and administrative skills and a high level of intellect which will enable the smooth day-to-day management of the School. This combined with proven effective and efficient leadership experience and a high degree of emotional intelligence will enable the development and implementation of evolving pastoral strategies including behaviour management, welfare and personal development of all pupils. Excellent communication skills are vital to continually develop positive, professional relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
Having knowledge of prep school systems and a minimum of five years teaching experience, the candidate will also have knowledge of, or an interest in, boarding, including the National Minimum Standards. In particular, they will understand the importance of excellent pastoral care and welfare on a child's well-being and development and how to implement that knowledge in a practical and compassionate way to help develop happy, resilient young people.
The successful candidate will have high standards. Integrity and fairness will be important to them, but they will not rest on their laurels. They will continually be looking to improve themselves as well as others whilst overseeing the well-being and welfare of staff too.
Teaching Personal Development to children in years 5 - 8 will be an integral part of the role. You will also oversee the further development and provision of a wide-ranging extra-curricular programme including a stretching programme for Post CE pupils.
