Job overview

Deputy Head Teacher (SEN)

Salary: L7-L12

Location  - Lavender Field School, Telford

National Teachers’ Terms and Conditions (including Teachers’ Pension)

Due to the incredible success of our outstanding sister schools in Staffordshire (Hopedale and Bluebell Schools), we are bringing our innovative services to the children and families of Telford.

Lavender Field School is a brand new special school in Telford, offering the highest quality of education for up to 50 children (5-18) with a range of additional needs.

We are passionate about finding a Deputy Head Teacher who will join us on this exciting journey, enabling the school to grow and evolve in the way that our sister schools already have.

Pupils may have social, emotional, mental health, and/or learning difficulties, and may or may not be on the autistic spectrum.

Both the Head and Deputy Head Teacher will spend up to a term in one of our sister schools prior to commencing their role at Lavender Field, enabling them to be confident and ready to receive the first cohort of pupils in April 2019.

We are seeking a Deputy Head Teacher who ‘just gets’ children, has a marvellous sense of humour and who has the flexibility and determination to ensure that Lavender Field is the first choice of school for children, parents and local authorities.

We do not require an experienced Deputy Head Teacher, as the level of support provided by the sister schools and the proprietors will enable the post holder to develop very quickly. Thus, we welcome applications from ambitious Teachers with middle leadership experience, Assistant Head Teachers, SENCOs or Heads of Year from Mainstream or Special, Primary or Secondary School settings, who are looking for something different. The recruitment process is about finding the right personality with huge amounts of potential, who will be as excited as we are about developing Lavender Field School.

Lavender Field School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with current and past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.

We are an equal opportunities employer.

Prior to the interview stage, applicants will be invited to visit one of our sister schools to ensure that this is the right opportunity for you. Interviews will last for one day, on the 16th July, and will be based in Telford.
