Job overview

Following the promotion of a current member of our Senior Team to another school, The Buckingham School wishes to appoint a Deputy Headteacher. With the window of opportunity to join us in September ending soon, there is a quick turn-around required to apply.

The Buckingham School is a very special place and we are justifiably proud of it, but with your help we can start to really walk the walk of The Buckingham Way. Reputational growth has brought a surge in student numbers, and in September we will be close to 1200 students, nearly 50% more than at the beginning of our journey. With this growth we have established the policies, systems and routines to make sure our school runs smoothly. Now we are doubly refocussed on continuing to raise academic standards.

We hope that you will be interested in joining a school, which aspires that its whole community works The Buckingham Way, with our seven Virtues bringing the Vision of “Success for All” to life.

To access details relating to this vacancy and to download the required application form, please visit the school website The Buckingham School, or alternatively download the application form below or click the apply button. Please submit completed applications FAO Mr A McGinnes, Headteacher to aallen@buckinghamschool.org. We look forward to hearing from you.

Closing date: Thursday 26th May  2022 at 9am

Interview date: Monday 30th May 2022

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students and expects all staff to share this commitment.  We are also committed in promoting community cohesion, healthy school and young enterprise.

Values and Vision

Learning and progress are vital to our values. We promote a vibrant, exciting learning environment for everyone, encompassing flexible skill development, technological capability, skilful communication, and entrepreneurship, as well as providing breadth of knowledge, creativity, and sporting opportunities, both within and beyond the classroom, for all learners.

Ofsted report

“Sixth-form learners’ achievement has improved because teaching is better in practically all subjects. Learners are very good role models for younger pupils and contribute much to school life. Pastoral care, especially in Year 7 and for those who have special educational needs or disability, is very supportive. Practically all pupils enjoy school and behave well. They all feel safe. The school prepares pupils very well for their future health and safety. Career advice is good. Pupils successfully learn about spiritual, moral, social and cultural issues blended with an understanding of citizenship and British values. In many lessons, pupils work extremely hard and are totally absorbed by high-quality and challenging teaching.”
