We are a small, friendly 11 - 16, co-educational, fully comprehensive community school, serving the local community surrounding Hollingworth in Tameside. Our ambition is to be a world-class school and we have a growing reputation for excellence. Staff and students have firmly subscribed to our ASPRIE core values in which we strive for Achievement, Success, Professionalism, Integrity, Respect and Endeavour in all that we do.

We are oversubscribed in Year 7 with all of our year groups rapidly expanding and we expect this growth to continue. Most of our students go on to study at Ashton Sixth Form College with others attending Tameside, Clarendon Sixth Form College, Stockport or Manchester College.

We were last inspected in November 2015 and we were delighted with the ‘good’ judgment which was well deserved recognition for the progress we have made as a school. The outstanding grade, awarded for leadership and management, also demonstrated the talent amongst our staff to further accelerate the school in all areas.

This is a very exciting time in our development as we take on a system leadership role in becoming a founder member of the AspirePlus Educational Trust. We are looking to ensure that the vision of improvement for Longdendale is accelerated through the appointment of forward-thinking and enthusiastic staff who will be able to work in partnership with others and be committed to working hard to achieve success.

As a founder member of the AspirePlus Educational Trust, Longdendale’s leaders have a strong vision for ongoing improvement and a track record of success. We will invest in you and provide you with the best resourcing and a personal programme of professional development and improvement. All these opportunities will allow you to develop your own career in a challenging, innovative and highly supportive secondary environment.

Values and Vision

Longdendale uses the mission statement “we endeavour to achieve and aspire to be successful”. It is a school that is currently enjoying some of the highest results of its history. Due to its smaller size, it is able to value each of its students as an individual, a task that is important for ensuring their skills and talents are emphasised and utilised in a way that can benefit them as well as the school itself.

Ofsted

“Since the previous inspection there have been marked improvements in teaching, behaviour and the overall quality of education that pupils receive. This is because leadership, including governance, is outstanding. The headteacher has been successful in uniting most members of the school community behind him and there is a shared aspiration for continued improvement. Swift action taken by school leaders since the previous inspection has resulted in the gap between the achievement of disadvantaged pupils and that of others in the school narrowing quickly.”
