Job overview

Due to the recent promotion of our Deputy Head to Head of School, we are looking for a new Deputy Headteacher to join Belmont Secondary School situated in Rawtenstall, in the Rossendale Valley. We are well placed for easy access from the motorway network, particularly the M66, the M60 and the M65.

Our vibrant school caters for boys aged 11+ with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. We are closely linked to Belmont Primary school and so a continuous, aspirational learning journey is forefront to our purpose.

We follow the national curriculum and ensure all of our pupils are entered for accredited examinations by Year 11. We also offer our pupils a wide range of creative, indoor and outdoor learning opportunities and extra-curricular activities.

We are a small school dedicated to working closely with parents / carers and local authorities to provide for the individual needs of our pupils.

About the role

This is your chance to join a high achieving team at Acorn Care and Education – the single largest private sector provider of specialist education and care services to local authorities across England, Scotland and Wales. You will work and to with an ambitious senior leadership team alongside the Assistant Director of Acorn Care and Education, in sustaining the schools excellent reputation, performance and ratings.

As Deputy, you will promote a relentless focus on the quality of education and delivery of a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum that meets the needs of children and young people and produces positive outcomes. A child's place at Belmont will ensure improvements in behaviour, confidence and self-belief, which can then be transferred into appropriate and accelerated learning inside the classroom and beyond. At our school we offer a flexible, personalised, engaging skills based curriculum providing both choice and challenge focussed on developing emotional literacy, core subject knowledge and offering a wide range of accredited outcomes.

Working with the senior leadership team you will ensure the school has effective systems in place and the required team capability to continually improve. You will be joining a high achieving company and executive team, and will work closely with the Executive Head and Head of School in positively impacting the lives of many young people. As part of our team you will focus on developing self-esteem and wellbeing, as well as academic performance and development.


Who are we looking for?

We are looking to hear from experienced or rising Senior Leaders with experience of inspiring multi-disciplinary teams to deliver outstanding learning for children and young people with special education needs.

We are looking for someone who knows how to bring a creative and innovative approach to improving performance and support for our pupils and their families. An excellent communicator, you will act as an ambassador for Belmont and will have demonstrable experience of working in partnership with parents, commissioners, local authorities and other stakeholders.
