Deputy Headteacher sought for well-established school in Madrid.

This prestigious, co-educational independent, School in Madrid are seeking to appoint a Deputy Head teacher, starting January 2019. The school has over 1000 pupils in the whole school setting and smaller dedicated infant phase, divided over 4 classes, in the EYFS/Primary department. 

The ideal candidate is an experienced teacher who has lead a key stage or whole school curriculum. You may even have experienced as an assistant principal and would welcome the challenge of a small but well known international school.


The school are seeking someone:

  • to support and develop outstanding Primary/EYFS teachers
  • to create outstanding learning opportunities for EYFS and Primary pupils through an enriched curriculum. 
  • who will contribute to a strategic view for the school and analyse and plan for its future needs. 
  • who can work in conjunction the school’s senior leadership team, planning co-operatively, sharing information, ideas and expertise and supporting colleagues’ work
  • who can establish strong and positive working relationships with pupils and staff (teaching and non-teaching).
  • who can establish good working relationships with parents, and with all outside agencies pertinent to the delivery of the school’s programme (e.g., personnel from regional/head office, all recognised governing groups or individuals).
  • who can start in January 2019


You will need:

  • min. a Bachelor degree and qualified Primary or Early Years teachers' degree
  • evidence of continuing professional development
  • excellent teaching track record
  • record of successful leadership across a variety of areas 
  • a clear vision of excellence within primary education
  • clear understanding and acceptance of the academic rigour expected from independent school educational provision
  • clear understanding of effective teaching, learning and  assessment techniques within an English national curriculum context
  • an ability to initiate and manage change sensitively and  effectively
  • an instinctive commitment to the safeguarding of young people, and an up to date knowledge of child protection procedures
  • evidence of commitment to wider school life above and beyond the school day.
