Job overview

Are you our new Deputy Headteacher?

As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity to join Reddish Hall School in Greater Manchester for pupils aged 5-18.  Reddish Hall is an ‘Outstanding’ school and has a reputation for enabling pupils, who’ve struggled at previous schools, to succeed. Its modern, innovative approach combined with its historic setting ensures pupils learn in a calm and constructive atmosphere

The experienced staff team at Reddish Hall aid our least able pupils with proven support structures, whist challenging our most able pupils academically so that every pupil can achieve, reach their potential and go on to enjoy meaningful adult lives. Our ethos and success have a hugely positive impact on pupils and wider family groups.

For pupils with social, emotional and learning difficulties, ADHD, Asperger’s syndrome, autism and associated conditions, a place at Reddish Hall helps to bring about improvements in behaviour, confidence and self-belief, which lead to accelerated learning inside the classroom and beyond.

Reddish Hall School is part of the Acorn Care and Education Group, the second largest private sector provider of special needs education in the country operating 19 schools for children and young people who have a range of social, emotional and mental health needs and also pupils who have been diagnosed with autism or demonstrate behaviours associated with autism.

About the role

The team at Reddish School are passionate about making the school a special place that pupils enjoy coming to every single day. We have an opportunity for a new Deputy Headteacher to help provide inspirational and motivational leadership across the school.

As Deputy Headteacher, you will promote a relentless focus on the quality of education and delivery of a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum that meets the needs of children and young people and produces positive outcomes. You will support the Headteacher in developing the school as a high quality specialist provision for pupils.

Working with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team, you will ensure the school has effective management and the required team capability to further develop and continually improve. You will be joining an experienced and committed staff team and will have the opportunity to help set the direction of our successful school that is unique in its region.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking to hear from dynamic and passionate individuals with experience of working with young people with a range of complex learning needs. We are looking for someone who knows how to bring a creative and innovative approach to improving performance and support for our pupils and their families. An excellent communicator, you will act as an ambassador for the School, and will have demonstrable experience of working in partnership with parents, local authorities and other stakeholders. If you are a truly inspirational, highly motivated and forward thinking leader, with the energy and passion to change lives coupled with proven experience of whole school development and improvement, this could be an excellent opportunity for you.

In return for your experience and commitment we offer outstanding career opportunities, access to a network of great senior colleagues within the Acorn Care and Education Group and the chance to shape the future and ongoing development of the school.

Acorn Care and Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children and young people in our care. Successful applicants will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Reddish Hall School is a co-educational school catering for pupils aged 5-18 with complex educational needs, communication difficulties and challenging behaviour- all of our young people have an Education Health Care Plan. The school accepts pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs, though they may face additional challenges and diagnoses including ADHD, Asperger’s, SpLD, MLD, OCD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia, Foetal Alcohol Syndrome or a variety of other conditions. Additionally, many of our pupils have serious social issues and very difficult home lives resulting in complex emotional difficulties.

All pupils attending Reddish Hall School have individual needs that have proved too complex to be addressed within a mainstream setting. The school provides effective support and a suitably differentiated curriculum, enabling them to progress and succeed to the best of their ability.

The aims and values of the school emphasise a commitment to provide a high quality provision for all our pupils.
