St Teresa's College, Abergowrie is a Catholic secondary boy's boarding college.  Located in an ideal rural setting in the heart of the Herbert River Valley, the College is approximately 30 km north west of Ingham and situated on Warrgamay land.  The main industries are sugarcane, forestry, and cattle.  Abergowrie is close to Wallaman Falls which is the highest single drop waterfall in Australia and the beautiful Broadwater National Park. 


What we are looking for

We are seeking applications for Deputy Principal - Pastoral (Secondary) to commence within our College in 2020 for a 5 Year Contract. 


As the Deputy Principal, you will provide pastoral leadership and assist with the development of a clear educational philosophy grounded in faith and the Catholic tradition. You will assist with the management of the school in accordance with due reference to Catholic Education structures, processes and practices, reporting directly to the Principal.

About St Teresa's College Abergowrie

St Teresa’s College Abergowrie is an all-boys, Catholic secondary day and boarding school in Australia, serving students from the age of 11-18. The secondary school is situated in the Herbert River Valley, Queensland and has approximately 207 pupils on record.

St Teresa’s College Abergowrie was founded in 1933. The school primarily serves students from rural backgrounds in the surrounding areas in communities such as Cape York, the Torres Strait and Brisbane, as well as internationally. Pupils come from over 40 communities and the school embraces its international community, where over 70 languages are spoken.

St Teresa’s College Abergowrie has facilities including a sports hall, library, computer suites, large classrooms, a gym and outdoor playing fields. 

Curriculum

The school offers a distinctive learning curriculum to suit the needs of all individuals. This includes additional support for SEN pupils and extra-curricular activities for pupils to enjoy outside of the classroom and build on their social skills, including fishing and camping trips, public speaking events and trips to the cinema and shopping centres. ICT also plays a vital role, and computers are used extensively in lessons.
