Job overview

Greater Manchester Academies Trust (‘GMAT’ / ‘the Trust’) is made up Manchester Communication Academy, Manchester Communication Primary Academy, North Manchester Initial Teacher Training and Manchester Communication Research School.

Our ambition is to provide the highest quality education for children and young people in the urban context of Manchester. At GMAT, we believe passionately in the power of an excellent education to transform lives and futures and feel that we can build on our social investment activities, local knowledge, community relationships and strong partnerships to make this happen.

At the heart of our Trust are our five core values: trustworthy; helpful; inspiring; straightforward and heart.

The School

Manchester Communication Academy is a vibrant school that is at the heart of the community and is committed to improving educational outcomes for all of our students. MCA is proud to be a community hub and our outward facing work is exceptional. We are an 11-16 secondary school with a primary school also on site. Close collaboration between the two schools is fundamental to our way of working.

Together, our driving force is to mitigate the impact of disadvantage and ensuring that the young people that we serve are equipped and ready to be successful and happy adults who we are proud to know.

The Technician will work with teaching staff to support teaching and learning in the Department. This is done by ensuring the effective preparation, maintenance and storage of tools, materials, equipment, furniture and fittings and by directing, demonstrating and supporting learning activities with pupils and teachers. The Technician can also work with small groups providing pupils at the school with relevant and effective Design & Technology experiences that support our goal of high levels of achievement.

The key qualities we seek are those that demonstrate vision, the ability to work well within a team and to have a flexible approach. In addition to this, a commitment to inclusive education and community cohesion is vital.

Are you a person that can bring about excellence for our young people no matter what their start points or social context? If so, please apply for the post by completing the TES online application form, which should include a supporting statement of no more than 2 sides of A4 (minimum font size 10) explaining, with examples, how you meet the requirements set out in the person specification.

The closing date for applications is 8am Friday 15th July 2022.

Interviews will be held the following week.

If I’m still interested, what should I do next?

We think that applying for a new role should always be seen as a 2-way process, you have to be right for us, but the school also has to be right for you. So if you are interested in applying, please do feel free to get in touch to discuss the role.

Manchester Communication Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure for a Regulated Activity via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
