The College is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and hardworking Design Technology Technician to join the College’s Product Design and Engineering Department. The successful applicant will be required to work with staff and students on the courses to support practical elements of learning in the workshop, as well as maintain equipment and high standards of health and safety.
The post is available from 1 September on a permanent, part-time basis. The hours of work are from 8.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Thursday and 10.00am – 4.00pm on Fridays (with a 45 minute unpaid break for lunch each day). The post is for 39 weeks per year (term-time only).
Previous experience of working with teenagers is desirable, but not essential. The post holder will spend a significant amount of the working day interacting with students, so the ability to feel confident in the presence of and communicating with young adults is essential. The role also requires experience of working with power tools and resistant materials.
The post requires commitment and flexibility in the approach to work, with the ability to remain calm at all times. Occasional evening work is required for which time off in lieu will be given.
The salary for this post is from £14,433.21 to £16,757.02 per annum (FTE £17,925 to £20,811).
Applicants are asked to complete and return the enclosed application form to the Personnel Department by email to firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible, but no later than 9.00am on Monday 24 June 2019.
When completing their application, candidates are asked to indicate:
• Any experience you have of working as a DT Technician
• Any experience you have of working with power tools and resistant materials
• Any experience you have of working with young adults
• Any experience you have of working as part of a team
• Any other relevant experience relating to the post
