TEACHER OF DESIGN TECHNOLOGY, CHILD DEVELOPMENT AND TEXTILES
Required from January 2019, an enthusiastic, well qualified, Teacher of Technology with the ability to deliver a specialism in Child Development to GCSE level. The ability to offer Textiles would be advantageous.
We seek a well qualified and enthusiastic teacher with a commitment to pupils of all ability in a comprehensive secondary school.
This would be an ideal opportunity for an experienced colleague who is ready for a new challenge in their career.
The successful candidate would also be expected to join our team of tutors.
The department consists of 9 full time colleagues, including 2 members of the leadership team and a colleague with responsibility elsewhere in the school. Teachers are supported by two D&T based technicians. Staff deliver the full range of technology areas across years 7 & 8 on a rotation basis, with each group having a 100 minute (2 doubles) per week. In Year 9 all students select two material areas to study in more depth before starting formal options in year 10. For GCSE students receive 6 50 minute lessons per fortnight.
Currently the department offers a range of examined courses including GCSE Food Preparation & Nutrition (AQA), GCSE Design Technology (AQA), Cambridge National Child Development and BTEC Construction.
The department is based across 8 specialist teaching rooms with Textiles and Child Development being taught in two of our newest spaces.
The department have access top a range of specialist facilities and resources , an ICT room and a bank of laptops for use in teaching spaces.
