Newstead Wood School is a high-achieving grammar school for girls with a mixed Sixth Form. Our lessons move at a fast pace and students are routinely challenged in their thinking. Students come to their DT lessons with high expectations and a desire for active and complex learning.
We are seeking to appoint an experienced Design Technology Technician to join our team from September 2018. The technician’s role is essential to maintain our high standards of safety within the DT department and workrooms. The successful applicant will provide essential support to the DT staff and the achievement of students, demonstrating innovative approaches whilst assisting with and resourcing lessons. Applicants will:
· Have a manufacturing knowledge of wood, metal and plastics
· Be able to maintain machinery and equipment
· Emphasise safe practice within the workshops, sustaining high standards of practical work
· Be confident demonstrating procedures to and working with small groups of students
· Be patient, clear thinking, creative and enthusiastic
Newstead Wood is situated in Orpington in the London Borough of Bromley and has excellent rail links to both London Bridge and Victoria Stations.

Newstead Wood is a highly selective girls’ state secondary school, with a co-educational Sixth Form, close to Orpington Station, with direct links to London.
