Babington House School is an independent day school in Kent for boys and girls. Located in Chislehurst, we try to instil in our pupils a love of learning and a passion for discovery that will last a lifetime. The boys and girls who come to Babington House School receive a first-class education and enjoy coming to school. With a school roll of 444, every pupil from 3 to 18 years old is able to make the most of our bespoke approach to education and grow in confidence and maturity.

The School now seeks an ambitious and committed Designated Safeguarding, Wellbeing and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Lead to join the Senior Leadership Team as soon as possible. The DSL, Wellbeing and EDI Lead will deal with all aspects of child protection, whilst also shaping and implementing the strategy to improve the outcomes for pupils and the community as a whole.

This is an excellent opportunity to work with strong and dedicated staff, supported by a dynamic and forward-thinking independent school.

The successful candidate will have successful leadership and management experience from either a school or other relevant organisation. The role requires an expert knowledge of legislation and guidance on safeguarding and working with young people. The successful candidate will also understand and be committed to the School’s ethos and values whilst looking ahead to the future with a genuine sense of ambition for both the School and their own development.

Babington House School is an independent day school from 3 to 18 years, situated in a beautiful group of buildings on Grange Drive in Chislehurst, near Bromley (3 minutes’ walk from Elmstead Woods Station).

It is a co-educational School from 3 to 18 years. It currently has just over 430 pupils with no more than 20 children in a class.

This is an exciting time for Babington House School with growing pupil numbers.  This growth is providing opportunities for new staff to join this friendly and supportive team, working with delightful children in small classes in a highly successful and progressive school.

Babington House School strives for academic rigour in all areas but also believes in developing the whole child, encouraging pupils to become confident, enabled young people.

Our commitment is to provide an academic and well-rounded education with small class sizes which is tailored to the needs of our pupils, believing that bright children benefit from carefully monitored and well directed learning, where self-discipline is highly prized and where each pupil is known as an individual.  This helps Babington House pupils grow into confident, accomplished, creative young people with emotional intelligence and high standards.

Babington is an academic school.  Our academic, social and sporting endeavours are underpinned by core Christian values which include a respect for others and an awareness of a purpose greater than ourselves.  Teachers get to know their pupils well and lasting friendship are formed amongst the children, creating a strong school community.

We are committed to outstanding sport, music, drama, and the arts in their broadest sense and we offer many clubs, societies and extra-curricular opportunities which go on before, during and after school.  There is also a happy hour each Friday after school for staff and staff socials!

Teachers inspire pupils from the Sixth Form right down to the Nursery and achieve excellent results. Over the past three years, A-Level pupils have achieved 80% A* to B grades and Babington’s Early Years provision has been top of the Bromley Borough league tables.

The Senior School is academically selective with an Entrance Examination for Year 7 entry. In the Sixth Form, the focus very much on A-level study in small sets whilst at the same time providing the opportunity for work experience, something that will help their university applications stand out and provide great self-confidence.

Headmaster, Mr Tim Lello says “I am immensely proud to lead such a vibrant community. Babington House is an outstanding school in every way.  The boys and girls receive a first-class education in a supportive and academic environment. Our pupils and parents are happy, and we are achieving excellent results.”

“Teachers are passionate about their subjects and this is reflected in the teaching in Babington’s Senior School”

“Babington House is a wonderful place to study as it cultivates a lifelong love of learning by providing excellent teaching and opportunities that are tailor made for the pupils”

“We are utterly thrilled by the development we have seen in our child”
