About Avondale College

Avondale College is a mixed, secular state high school situated in the suburb of Avondale, in western Auckland, New Zealand. It is an English language state school that caters for over 2,600 students between the ages of 13-18, 150 of which are foreign fee-paying students. They have a sister school called Daito Bunka High School in Tokyo, Japan, which students travel to every year. It is a school that has both NCEA and Cambridge pathways.

Avondale College was established in 1945 in some buildings that were originally constructed by Fletcher Construction as an American Naval Hospital in 1943. Throughout its changing heads of schools, there have been a number of renovations to the building that, aside from a devastating fire in 1990, has seen the school expand further and further. The school has even been used as a location for films and adverts.
