Job overview

Our world faces many challenges, so we need to be the best we can be: a Christ-like Church for the sake of God’s world. Serving our schools lies right at the heart of that vision.

With over 60,000 children attending our Church of England Schools and another 250,000 children at community schools across the diocese, the Oxford Diocesan Board of Education oversees a complex framework of educational provision across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire.
As Diocesan Director of Education you will lead a growing team supporting over 280 Church of England schools and academies across nine local authority areas. Helping your team to build on their stellar achievements in raising school effectiveness is but one part of the role. You’ll also be responsible for re-energising relationships between our local churches and schools and developing models of chaplaincy for schools to support the pastoral care of our pupils and staff.

If you’re an outstanding leader in the education sector with an appetite for challenge and a strong track record of strategic and team leadership as well as driving forward school effectiveness, then we’re keen to hear from you.
Find out more at https://www.oxford.anglican.org/odbe-diocesan-director-education/ on 01865 208770 or call our Director of HR, Poli Shajko for an informal discussion.

Closing date for applications:  2.00 pm on Monday 17 September 2018.
Interviews: 27 September and 3 October 2018.

There is a Genuine Occupational Requirement that you are a practising Christian and are an active member of a trinitarian church. We welcome applications from all sections of society. Safer Recruitment principles will be applied, which will include an Enhanced DBS Disclosure.
