Job overview

As part of an innovative change to the strategic direction of our Business Department, we are looking for a dynamic leader to direct the development of our new Business Academy curriculum offer. This new role will be part of our Senior Management Team and will report directly to the Headmaster.

You should be an outstanding practitioner who can mentor and nurture staff with successful experience in leadership and management.

Business is an important part of the curriculum at Thomas Telford School and many students study GCSE Business at Key Stage 4 following the AQA Specification and OCR Cambridge National in Enterprise and Marketing. Business is also a popular option at Post 16, with a third of the large Sixth Form following either A Level Business (AQA) or the BTEC National Extended Certificate (4 Units). This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in Business as a key part of the curriculum for all students.

We intend to expand Business related courses and are about to embark on a building programme to house a Business Academy which will open in 2019. There will be opportunity to expand the range of Business courses on offer with the prospect of introducing A Level Economics, AAT or related qualifications.

Additionally, the department plays a key role in the Careers & Activities Week in July by running a range of Enterprise activities and Business games to develop students’ employability skills. Industry links are well established and the curriculum is constantly enhanced with meaningful, vocational examples including speakers and visits. Enterprise underpins the Business curriculum and all staff have an input into its continued development.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated specialist to lead a talented and successful team of professionals and to be involved in the expansion of the range of courses offered by the Department. If you are proactive, positive, enthusiastic and believe you have the skills and experience to lead a strong team of teachers, we would welcome your application. A relevant degree with a PGCE is a key requirement for this post.

Informal enquiries and visits are welcomed. Please contact Miss S Baxter, Headmasters Professional Assistant, at hr@ttsonline.net.
