INFORMATION ABOUT THE TRUST

Turner Schools is a Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) based in Folkestone on the beautiful Kent coast.

Turner Schools is committed to ensuring success without selection for our pupils and students by teaching them the core knowledge and life skills they need to thrive in the modern world. Turner Schools is committed to leading schools where children thrive and knowledge matters.

Our mission is to set a new standard in non-selective education, empowering our pupils and students with cultural capital. In this way we will contribute to the regeneration of the region; we call this mission sea-change.

Following Aristotle's philosophy, we believe that educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all. Accordingly, we have encapsulated the Trust's ethos and values in the acronym HEART meaning we have:

H: High Expectations - of yourself, of others, including in terms of aspiration for the community and children we serve, conduct and standards in the widest sense

E: Enthusiasm - in attitude and to nurture it in others be they pupils/students/scholars, parents or colleagues; an

A: Academic subject-based curriculum - tried and tested subjects delivered in coherent sequence

R: Reading for all - achieving chronological reading age as well as love of this enabling and vital skill; and

T: Teamwork - recognising that together we can achieve more than we can alone.

Our HEART model gives stakeholders, staff, pupils and parents a common language.

Our schools include:

Folkestone All Age Academy; Morehall Primary; Martello Primary; and Turner Free School.

Turner Schools is committed to safeguarding children and promoting their welfare. It expects all staff and volunteers to share this same commitment. Any appointment is subject to satisfactory recruitment checks, including an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Two references are required prior to commencement of employment. Children come to our school to be happy and successful. They will leave us as confident, self-assured, positive young people who love to learn, to contribute and to achieve

We offer pupils a dedicated staff who are committed to developing the knowledge, skills, attitudes and understanding which will enable children to enjoy learning, achieve success and to feel contented and fulfilled. We ensure that our children learn about, and have confidence in, themselves as learners.

As an inclusive, caring school where every child matters, we recognise that all children have talents and abilities to enjoy, and a part of our role is to help them discover and develop these. We encourage a strong community spirit, where we show consideration for each other, understand differences, and uphold kind, well-mannered behaviour.

In being the Primary School in an All Age Academy we will retain the overview of a child’s learning journey from pre-school to post sixth form, building the All Age cohesion which will bring about the best educational and personal development opportunities for all of our children and the community in which they live, and fulfilling our high expectations. At the end of Year 6 our children have the right to transfer into the Senior School if this is the parental preference, although, of course, other options will remain available.

The learning community of Folkestone Primary Academy has a shared vision that every child deserves to be successful. We challenge and develop our children to become curious, autonomous learners who are inspired and stimulated through a rich and varied curriculum, appropriate to individual needs. Through Building Learning Power to develop children’s learning skills and setting high expectations and exacting standards, we prepare our children to flourish and gain confidence and self belief, to develop as life long learners.

Folkestone Primary Academy is inclusive and is fully committed to meeting the needs of all children and enabling learners to achieve their full potential.
