Job overview

Fairfax Multi-Academy Trust (FMAT) is looking for a Director of Education who shares our mission of enriching lives and transforming futures for all our students.

This is an exciting time to join our Trust.  This challenging and rewarding role requires an individual who is passionate about improving outcomes for young people regardless of their background. You will be a natural leader, developing and bringing FMAT’s education strategy to life and will play a key role in the Trust’s Executive Team. Those who work for the Trust do so because they are values-driven, having our students’ best interests at heart.

We are looking for an experienced leader who is positive and forward-looking and has a successful track record in school improvement. With a strong background in education, you will be used to delivering strong results against tight deadlines.

The ideal candidate will support the Trust on its journey to further strengthen its education provision by continuing to develop and implement the Trust’s education vision and Trust-wide school improvement strategy. As part of the role, you will ensure that all students, regardless of their background, reach their full potential and secure excellent progress and outcomes, whilst ensuring that their holistic educational journey is a positive experience. You will provide leadership on all matters related to teaching and learning, as well as the curriculum, as part of a broad portfolio of responsibilities.

You will work in partnership with the MAT Executive Team and Academy Leaders to ensure that the focus of energy is always positively impacting the lives of the students we serve.

FMAT is committed to the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  The successful candidate will therefore be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure via the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) as well as providing evidence of qualifications.

Fairfax Multi Academy Trust is a family of schools aiming to develop articulate, resilient and ambitious students, regardless of background, with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to excel in modern Britain.   We want the very best for all our students across the trust because we believe that demographics should not determine destiny.

We have over 3000 students across our four campuses around the city of Birmingham and almost half of those students are eligible for free school meals. We are looking for dedicated professionals who want to take on the challenge of eradicating educational disadvantage: why should a child's life chances be decided by their postcode or background? We believe that every child deserves the same high standard of education to change their lives.

Each of our four campuses across the city of Birmingham has a traditional approach with old-fashioned values where courtesy, manners and respect are central . You can find live vacancies by clicking on our campus pages below:
