Director of History

Start September 2021
Permanent Contract
Salary Range Leadership Scale 14 to 19 with Co-op benefits
An exciting opportunity for an outstanding leader and teacher of history with a proven track record, to join our internal subject consultant team for Co-op Academies Trust. This is a crucial role within our Academy Improvement Strategy and a key appointment for a crucial subject. Already this initiative has been very successful with our current team reflecting good progress in key areas and we know this appointment will be equally as positive.
You will need to know the history curriculum in detail including the specifications of a range of exam courses at GCSE and Post 16 level and Primary. Exam boards vary in each academy so your subject knowledge and assessment for learning skills will be tested.
Within the Co-op Academies Trust we will help develop your leadership skills however we would expect someone who is already an expert history leader who currently teaches. Although most of your work will be focused on KS3 and KS4 you will be working with students and staff at KS2 and KS5, so experience in these areas would be an advantage.
This is a really interesting and exciting challenge to improve all standards of history across the Trust. Developing curriculum and assessment in a full range of academies ensuring history teaching is of the highest quality.
Location: Based from one of the Trust’s secondary schools 2-3 days a week, with travel across all of the Trust’s academies in the remaining time.
Location: flexible, required to work at all academies across the Trust
