Manchester Health Academy opened in September 2009 and is sponsored by Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. In September 2010 the Academy moved into a £20 million state-of-the-art building and is now amongst the most popular schools in the city, showing significant academic improvement, a rapidly expanding student population and growing sixth form provision.  Rated by Ofsted in April 2015 as a good school, with many outstanding features, we are now embarking on the next stage of our journey to outstanding and are looking for exceptional and inspiring individuals to help us achieve this ambition.  The school is expanding and a £10 million project is set to conclude in September 2018 with a brand new English and Maths block.

We are currently seeking to appoint an experienced, committed, ambitious and dynamic Director of Mathematics, who will play a key role in the Academy's journey towards Outstanding to start Easter 2018.

The successful candidate will be an experienced leader, or an experienced assistant curriculum leader, aspiring to move into a senior leadership position within the next few years.  We are looking for a strategic thinker who is also an inspirational and outstanding practitioner with excellent curriculum knowledge and pedagogical practice, who has a desire to ensure the best life chances for all students. We are seeking an individual who has a proven record for delivering effective strategies to improve standards of teaching and learning in order to create an ambitious, innovative and collegiate department. 

You will:

  • Lead the strategic direction of the Head of Mathematics and the staff within the maths team in delivering our vision of an outstanding, inclusive Academy with the highest standards of teaching, learning and pupil progress.
  • Lead, manage and support the Head of Mathematics to promote outstanding academic progress.
  • Have the knowledge, experience and ambition to teach across a range of ages and    abilities.
  • Be a highly skilled, resourceful and enthusiastic individual able to inspire and      motivate students and staff.
