Queen’s Gate is a thriving GSA day school for girls aged 4 –18 and is ideally situated in Central London to take advantage of the many educational opportunities on offer. Music plays a central part in the life of our School. We have a strong choral tradition in both Senior and Junior Schools and have a large peripatetic Music staff offering lessons to a high percentage of pupils.

Applications are invited for the full-time position of Director of Music from suitably qualified graduates with an appropriate teaching qualification and proven experience as an excellent Music teacher up to GCSE and A Level.  The successful candidate will inspire and further develop our curricular and extra-curricular Music programmes, including our Junior and Senior Orchestras. A passion for the subject, leadership and motivational skills, experience of administration of a large peripatetic staff, energy, enthusiasm and a sense of humour are all desirable qualities. 

Our Junior School has its own part-time Music Co-Ordinator, but the Director of Music will be expected to lead, and contribute to, the musical activities in both the Junior and Senior Schools. It is also desirable that the successful candidate is an accomplished pianist.

About Queen's Gate School

Queen's Gate School is an all-through independent day school for girls aged 4-18, housed in five Victorian buildings in South Kensington, London. There are around 500 pupils on roll, with a wide range of ethnic and cultural backgrounds, reflecting the diversity of the city.

Queen's Gate School was founded in 1891 by Miss Eleanor Beatrice Wyatt in her parents' home. The present site was acquired in 2005. The school is an educational trust overseen by a board of governors.
