Job overview

The Cranmer Education Trust, based at The Blue Coat School, Oldham, Greater Manchester, is looking for a Director of Operations to add strategic leadership capability and provide operational management to our professional and dedicated Senior Leadership Team. You will lead and manage the operation of the Trust’s business to ensure that all support service functions, structures, working practices and contracts are fit-for-purpose, best value, and serve the needs of the Trust as it grows and develops. There is, of course, no requirement that you be a qualified teacher.

We would like the successful applicant to take up post ideally from 7th May 2018, but we understand that we might need to be flexible regarding this date, to meet notice requirements.

The post-holder will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team of the Cranmer Education Trust, a growing Multi-Academy Trust, alongside the CEO, the Headteachers of the schools, and the Finance Director. You will be the strategic lead for all support staff within the Trust, leading and managing the operation of the Trust’s business to ensure that all support service functions, structures, working practices and contracts are fit-for-purpose, best value, and serve the needs of the Trust as it grows and develops. Finance and capital/estates will be managed by the Finance Director, with whom you will work closely as the business expands.

You will be in the forefront of change. As we bring new schools as organisations into the Trust, you will focus on change management strategy and delivery for the staff involved, securing the balance between being part of the Trust family, culture, ethos and systems, and a local identity which is strongly connected to the community that the school serves.

We offer:

· An exciting post in a dynamic and growing organisation.

· The opportunity to shape and develop a service that makes a real difference to the lives of children and young people.

· The challenge and stimulation of working alongside both dedicated educationalists and professionally highly-qualified colleagues.

· Experienced and capable support service managers, across the organisation, who will become your team.

· 24 days annual leave, rising to 31, plus 8 Bank Holidays.

· Final salary pension scheme, including 20.6% employer contribution.

· National Terms and Conditions, in line with the Green Book.

Please note, however, that (in common with most schools) we do not accept CVs.

The closing date for applications is Friday, 2nd March, 2018 at 11pm.
Interviews will be held week beginning 5th March, 2018.

This post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check.

About Cranmer Education Trust

The Cranmer Education Trust is an expanding school trust in the Greater Manchester Area.

We are a Church of England Trust. Therefore, we serve the whole community. We welcome all schools and all people into our Trust, both faith-designated or community, who want to go on a journey together to build a great future for children and young people. We are ambitious for all our young people and all of our staff: we want everyone to be everything they can be and everything they are meant to be.

The Trust was formed from The Blue Coat School, which is an outstanding secondary school in Oldham that has a large, established and successful sixth form. The Trust expanded to include 2 primary schools with another secondary school joining the Cranmer Education Trust in spring 2021 and the Cranmer Education Trust will be opening a new eight form of entry secondary Free School in Oldham in September 2022.

The Cranmer Education Trust also includes Manchester Nexus SCITT – school centred Initial Teacher Training founded September 2017. The opportunity to help train new teachers provides professional and career development for established staff.

We work collaboratively, share good practice and have a Trust-wide approach to development. We strive to ensure all our staff are able to build an excellent provision for our children and young people.

Our values:

Ambition - to transform the life chances of children and young people through excellent education and outstanding schools

Excellence - all our young people will enjoy a rich, stimulating education that enables them to become everything they can be and are meant to be.

Community - we serve children and young people of all faiths and denominations and none. We will nurture Christian children in their faith.

Our mission: is to be a leader of education and a provider of excellent schools which nurture children and young people and enable all to achieve, progress, experience success, and to become good people, good neighbours and good citizens whom we are proud to know.
