Areas of work: Regular travel across the Trust will be required

Start Date: Easter 2019

Northern Education Trust (NET) is a charitable education Trust with an improving track record for school improvement. The Trust sponsors 20 academies; 10 secondary and 10 primaries across the North of England in ten Local Authority regions.

An important part of the Trust’s strategy for school improvement is to increasingly grow the capacity for specialist outstanding practitioners. We are now looking to increase our team of Directors of Primary Learning with someone who has a passion and knowledge of teaching Math or English across the Primary age range.

In the Primary phase across NET academies, the 2018 results showed that Year 6 children reaching the expected standard in reading, writing and maths improved by 12 percentage points to 64%, a significant increase of 28 percentage points since 2016.

Reporting directly to the Deputy Chief Executive, you will be responsible for improving outcomes in the Primary phase across the Trust. This will be underpinned by our vision ‘We constantly focus on standards as we understand outcomes are paramount. Our decision making is driven entirely by what is best for our children. By doing this, we enhance the life chances of the children and young people in our care’.

This is a senior role working with the Executive Principal to secure high quality teaching and learning in Mount Pellon and Abbey Park (Calderdale LA), Merlin Top and Ryecroft (Bradford LA) and The Ferns (Bolton LA) Primary academies. However, you will also work collaboratively with a team of directors to lead on the development of innovative practice across all academies within the Trust.

Working alongside other Directors, you will have responsibility for leading on development of English or Math strategy across the Trust. You will be an outstanding teacher, who is able to demonstrate exceptional leadership skills and be able to role model best practice. You will be passionate about providing quality education to children regardless of their background to ensure that they all receive the best quality education that they deserve.

Although you will be based in an Academy, providing you with an opportunity to be part of a leadership team, regular travel across the Trust Academies will be necessary in supporting curriculum leadership and teacher development throughout the Trust.

For further information please download the job description and person specification from www.northerneducationtrust.org. Alternatively, you can contact Natalie Sutherland, Trainee HR Advisor on n.sutherland@northerneducationtrust.org. Please note completed applications must be returned to Natalie by email.

Informal discussions are encouraged; please contact Becky Matthews, Executive Assistant to the Deputy Chief Executive on 07714 794176.

The Trust is committed to safer recruitment practice and pre-employment checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed. All posts are subject to enhanced disclosure and barring service checks. We expect all adults to share our commitment to safeguarding and the health and wellbeing of our pupils.

Closing Date: 12th December 2018.
