Job overview

The Perse is one of the country’s leading co-educational independent day schools, providing a high quality education to pupils aged 3-18 in Cambridge.

The Perse School is looking to appoint a Director of Sport to commence the role in September 2023. This is a high profile and rewarding position in a leading co-educational day school. The PE and Games Department is an energetic, supportive and collegiate department.

The role presents an exciting opportunity to shape the profile, direction and longer term strategic planning of the Games programme. The post holder will be required to review the effectiveness of the current provision, assessing strengths, changing patterns of pupil participation and areas for development. In addition, the Director of Sport would join at a time when construction would be underway for a new six-lane 25m swimming pool, sports hall and climbing wall to add to the already excellent sports facilities on site and at Abington.

The Perse recognises the importance of pastoral care and a vibrant programme of extra-curricular activities in developing happy, well rounded and successful young people. Our values shape what we do and how we do it. They are: valuing one another and our environment; intellectual curiosity and scholarship; endeavour; breadth and balance.

Perse teachers are expected to contribute to the pastoral and extra-curricular programme alongside their subject teaching. Pupils at the Perse school are ambitious, intelligent and industrious and this is an opportunity to motivate and inspire talented pupils and staff alike in a fast paced working environment.
