Applications are invited for the following role at an independent school, located in Sydney’s South Western Suburbs. This school seeks a dynamic, experienced, and committed educational leader to lead its Secondary School. The successful applicant will have a high-level responsibility for academic improvement and the ability to demonstrate data driven monitoring and progress of teaching and learning outcomes as well as oversight of the operations of the Secondary School. They will have the key task of working with Secondary staff to drive academic improvement and oversee the welfare of students across Years 7 -12. This independent school proudly employs applicants from a diverse range of faith and cultural backgrounds.

The successful applicant will:

  • Lead the development of a whole College vision/philosophy with respect to learning and teaching that clearly articulates the type of learner/thinker that the College is seeking to develop.
  • Promote and articulate pedagogical practices that are appropriate to each educational stage and that will support the development of students in their learning journey through the College.
  • Research and promote appropriate professional learning experiences for staff that complement the performance and development plans in conjunction with members of the Executive.
  • Provide forums and opportunities that will facilitate discussion and sharing of ideas on curriculum and pedagogical issues.
  • In close consultation with the Curriculum Leaders and Heads of Department, develop a detailed, documented and consistent system of tracking individual student progress across the College using NAPLAN and other data.
  • Oversee best practice of the College eLearning system, ensuring that all teaching staff are appropriately and thoroughly trained in its utilisation.
  • Oversee the HSC, NAPLAN, PAT and Best Start, and other educational testing results analysis and improvement plans.
  • Provide guidance to students with elective choices in Stages 5 and 6.
  • Model and be the voice of teaching and learning within the (7–12) College community promoting what we do and why.

 

Selection Criteria: 

  • Tertiary qualifications education and minimum of Proficient Teacher Accreditation (NSW) or equivalent.
  • Hold or have the ability to be registered with WWCC  
  • Previous Leadership experience in a similar role is preferred
  • Post graduate qualifications in curriculum/pedagogy or educational leadership is advantageous, but not essential
  • Ability to provide current and relevant references from Middle Management/Executive Leadership level (please note referees will not be contacted prior to your express approval, and all applications are treated in complete confidentiality)
