We have a great opportunity for a well-motivated and enthusiastic Teacher of Drama to work within a highly successful, committed and forward-looking Arts Department.  The successful candidate will be expected to teach Drama across a range of classes across Years 7 – 11. Applications from NQTs with an appropriate academic background are welcome.

As Drama Teacher you will plan, resource and deliver lessons to the highest standard, ensuring meaningful learning takes place and pupils make rapid and sustained progress. You will create a pleasurable and stimulating learning environment for students, and fully implement our routines and techniques for creating a culture of high expectations.

Your challenge will be to inspire pupils to achieve at least expected progress and the majority to exceed that standard. We will look to you to support and encourage student participation in activities extending their educational experience outside the timetable too.

You will also contribute to the enrichment and transition programmes aimed at improving the quality of education for students of all abilities. . We will look to you to participate in our quality assurance and performance management processes as well as promote the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of pupils.

About Eastlea Community School

Eastlea Community School is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school in the London borough of Newham, serving students between the ages of 11-16. The secondary school, situated in Canning Town, has the capacity to accommodate 1200 students. Eastlea has a large number of high needs students including PMLD.  

We pride ourselves in being a diverse school with over 80 different languages spoken amongst our students, many of these students are mid-phase admissions having newly arrived in the country.  We understand that our students need to be prepared for the fast evolving future where vital skills like resilience and independent thinking are as important as core skills and teamwork, and so in Key Stage 3 we follow the National Curriculum for Years 7, 8 and 9, with GCSE studies beginning at the start of year 10.

Key Stage 4 offers learning pathways to best suit individual students. English Baccalaureate is offered and students are encouraged to take a language and history/geography, our curriculum at this stage is designed to give students the best possible preparation for Key Stage 5 study.
