Actual Salary: £4,557 - £4,645

We seek applications from those of the Catholic faith, all faiths and of no faith but who are supportive of our Christian values and ethos.

Are you passionate about Art and Design and Technology? We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and skilled individual to act as an Art/DT Technician to join our well-equipped Art and Design and Technology departments. The DT department has recently moved into new purpose-designed accommodation and this is an exciting time to join this friendly and supportive team. DT and Art are popular subjects at GCSE and at A Level at St Mary’s.

Perhaps you are thinking about a future role in teaching and learning, and this would be an ideal opportunity to gain valuable experience, perhaps you are a career changer, getting back into the workforce, or wish to take a step back from a more full time role. Whatever applies to you, opportunities are diverse and you could be working across range of subjects including Food & Nutrition, Resistant Materials and Textiles.

The successful candidate will be proactive and flexible and will work under supervision and direction as part of a professional team to support learning by providing technical assistance, developing appropriate resources for teaching and learning and assisting in delivering practical learning activities for pupils.

The DT/Art Technician will also be involved in such other duties as may be relevant for the benefit of the school or the pupils for example, secure and work with hazardous materials, the preparation and day to day maintenance of teaching areas and equipment for pupils and staff, providing administrative, clerical and other support.

The precise working pattern can be discussed at interview, but we aim to maintain a flexible approach to meet the needs of the school and the individual, for example in relation to personal commitments and other roles.

Working at St. Mary’s is an extraordinary opportunity.  We are passionately committed to developing staff and managing workload to ensure that colleagues enjoy their work and recognise St. Mary’s as an almost-uniquely positive place to teach and enjoy their careers.   We are a founding member in the St Francis of Assisi Catholic Academy Trust formed on 1st September 2021. We have won over £7.5m in capital bids in the last 4 years and are enjoying brand new cutting edge facilities as a result.  The school faces an extremely strong and positive financial future.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  A DBS disclosure is required for all successful applicants.  St Mary’s is committed to the equality of opportunity for all applicants, and we reserve the right to interview on a rolling basis, therefore an early application is advisable.

Apply in writing using the forms available on our website www.stmarys.net: Support Staff Application Form, Consent to Obtain References Form, Rehabilitation of Offenders Form & Recruitment Monitoring Form.  Applicants are reminded that they should read the Notes to Applicants before completing an application. Please note only applications on St Mary’s forms will be accepted. Welcome

St. Mary’s has a strong tradition of providing an authentic education which aims to deliver excellence for every member of our Catholic community. It is our mission to build on that tradition as we develop the school still further over the years ahead.

Our school is built upon an ambitious mission for each and every young person: to fulfil academic potential; to be fully developed in the personal, social and spiritual areas of life; to achieve excellence in every area of life; and to be underpinned by Gospel Values, enabling each person to value individuals and contribute positively to society. We work in partnership with parents and the wider community to ensure that this mission is accomplished in the lives of all our young people, and in so doing, enable those young people to live life to the full.

The aims of the school are:

• the formation of our young people according to Gospel values;
• the fulfilment of the potential of our pupils in all aspects of the curriculum;
• the personal, social and spiritual development of our pupils into responsible, generous and caring members of society;
• the achievement of all these within a culture of respect and appreciation for the worth and contribution of each member of our school and its wider community.

In 1896, five Sisters from the Belgian congregation of St Mary of Namur came to Bishop's Stortford and established a school with just 9 students.  These pioneering Sisters were the first to provide Catholic education for the district, and the school rapidly became a success. Their legacy is St Mary’s Catholic School, and as we look to the future with high expectations for continued success, their vision continues to inspire us. This is expressed in our aspiration towards academic excellence founded on Gospel values. In practical terms this also means the best possible pastoral care and guidance and the challenge and support of a broad range of spiritual opportunities which permeate through all aspects of school life.
