The International School of Modena is seeking to appoint an Early Years Educator (Teaching Assistant) to start as soon as possible.

We are looking for an educator who, whilst holding the necessary legal qualifications, shows a high level of initiative, flexibility, creativity and organisational skills in caring for and providing safe and enriching educational experiences for 3-5 year olds.

The position

We are seeking to appoint an Early Years Educator (Teaching Assistant) to join the team responsible for our Reggio-Inspired International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP). 

The school also has a unique relationship with the nearby Loris Malaguzzi International Centre for Childhood in Reggio Emilia and the Reggio Emilia Approach to Early Years Education informs and inspires the approach to learning and teaching in practice.  Continuous professional Development is offered in collaboration with Reggio Emilia directly. The innovative Early Years Learning environments have been designed to support children’s inquiry based learning.

We are looking for an educator (teaching assistant) who show a high level of initiative, flexibility, creativity and organisational skills in caring for and providing safe and enriching educational experiences for 3-5 year olds.

The candidate must possess the following experience, skills and knowledge:

• To be in possession of a university degree in a related subject and an appropriate teaching qualification in one of the following:

              Five year Laurea Magistrale  Scienze della Formazione Primaria, which is integrated

             with a specialisation course in Early Childhood education (60 university credits) 

             B.Ed/BA,BSc in Primary Education with specialisation in Early Years and where age

            group is clearly stated on certification, eg. B.Ed Primary (3-12, 4-12), BA/Bed, BSc.

            Early Years Education.  

             Undergraduate Degree and PGCE/PGDE Primary (3 or 4 to 12 clearly stated)  

• Recent experience in teaching Early Years (ages 3-5)

• To be an EU passport holder or already be in possession of a valid visa that enables to work in Italy.

• To have an excellent command of the English language (an understanding of Italian is also preferable);

• An interest in concept-based curriculum and learning through inquiry

•Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills

Our host city

Modena is located in the Emilia Romagna region of Italy which is world renowned for its outstanding food and wine production.  Modena itself is famous for being the home of one of the World’s greatest tenors, Luciano Pavarotti and home to Ferrari motorcars as well as being the production centre for Balsamic vinegar.  The city itself has some beautiful architecture and green spaces with a population of 185,000.  Modena is centrally located in the north of Italy with the city of Bologna 20 minutes away, Verona just over an hour away and Florence about one and a half hours away.  Milan can also be easily reached by train within two hours.
